Land Disturbance Permits & Single-Lot Grading

In Western North Carolina, moving dirt is never "simple." Whether you are building a custom home on a steep slope or adding an accessory structure, navigating Buncombe County or City of Asheville Land Disturbance permits requires a precise technical approach.

We provide comprehensive grading plans, erosion and sedimentation control (ESC) design, and permitting support for projects of all sizes, ensuring your site remains stable and compliant with local environmental regulations.

Technical Capabilities

Using advanced GIS data and Civil 3D modeling, we analyze your site's unique topography to optimize "cut and fill" and minimize environmental impact.

  • Steep Slope Permitting & Analysis
  • Erosion & Sedimentation Control Design
  • Civil 3D Grading Design & Modeling
  • Cut/Fill Earthwork Analysis
  • Driveway Certification (Over 18% Slope)
  • Stormwater Management for Single Lots

The Permitting Process

Typically, any project disturbing more than a specific square footage or occurring on a "steep slope" (as defined by local ordinance) requires a professional grading plan and permit before construction begins.

We require a topographic survey and property boundary information (Plat or Improvement Survey). While we can pull preliminary data from County GIS, an on-the-ground survey is essential for final design and permitting.
